Just two years after winning $100,000, a Lancaster County woman won $1 million on a Pennsylvania Lottery Max-A-Million scratch-off ticket from the same store.

Two years ago, Peggy Dodson, 72, stopped at Peterson’s Grocery Outlet to buy a scratch-off card from a game called Family Feud, and won $100,000.

This week, Peggy purchased the $1 million-winning Max-A-Million card from the same store.

And it was just a few days away from her husband’s birthday. “I liked that ticket because of the color purple, so it was the first one (on the roll) and it was the million dollar winner!” said Dodson.

"When I scratched off the bar code and scanned it, I saw a whole bunch more zeroes," Dodson said.

Dodson added, “I cried, I couldn’t help it. I just thank God. We’re going to pay our mortgage off, we’ll pay our truck off and we’ll go to the Grand Canyon and Alaska!”

Peggy Dodson purchased the big winning ticket on Thursday, May 23 at Peterson’s Grocery Outlet, 72 Peach Bottom Road, Peach Bottom.

The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Winning twice seems to be almost a common occurrence for Pennsylvania Lottery players.

Pennsylvania lottery officials said other winners have experienced lucky streaks.

  • Donna Goeppert, 55, won $1 million playing a Pennsylvania Lottery game in 2005. Then won ANOTHER million on the same game in the same year.

  • A Carbon County man won four times, collecting over $2.5 million in the late 1980s and '90s.

  • And a husband and wife separately won replica Pocono pace cars in the Pocono ‘Race for the Riches’ game in 2000.

OUR TAKE:

In many of the double luck stories it was reported that the winners were regular players, both before and after their wins. It confirms what I have saying for years - you must play often. If you can't play often, then use as many lines in the game as you can.
