When Midoriko-Mariam Takeuchi, of Quincy, bought her first scratch-off ticket from the Massachusetts Lottery, she wasn't expecting much.

Instead, it paid off in a big way. The lucky $10 "$2,500,000 Holiday Magic" ticket turned out to be worth $1 million.

Midoriko-Mariam went into Point Liquors on Washington Street in Quincy to use an ATM, and when she saw a new holiday scratch ticket on display, she decided to buy one.

Takeuchi chose the annuity option on her prize and received the first of her 20 annual payments of $50,000, less taxes.

She said she plans to use some of the money to pay down her student loan.

Point Liquors will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
