The quiet outskirts of Wexford town buzzed with excitement after a service station sold a Lotto Plus 1 ticket that clinched the €1 million top prize last Saturday.

The luck of the Irish shined brightly on the ticket bought at Maxol Killeens on Newline Road for the draw on 14 October 2023. The former Emo service station includes a Mace store, a pharmacy, a separate equestrian shop, and a coalyard.

And the festivities expanded as the National Lottery hosted a grand event at the family-run service station to celebrate last Saturday’s top prize win.

The lucky winner has made contact with the National Lottery and arrangements are now being made for them to collect their prize. They're set to join the elite club as the 33rd Lottery Millionaire of 2023 soon.

Tony and Sarah Butler, who've passionately run Maxol Killeens for three decades, were overjoyed to find out that their business had sold the winning ticket.

“It’s just brilliant for absolutely everybody in the community. It’s especially sweet for us as the business has been a part of our family for over 30 years and to get a big lottery win for one of our customers is just the icing on the cake,” said the owners in a statement.

“We believe that the winner has already been in touch so whoever they are, I know that the entire local community will be wishing them every success with their new found fortune,” it said.

But the rollercoaster of anticipation isn't over! A whopping €65 Million is up for grabs in tonight's EuroMillions draw. The National Lottery hints that securing a ticket before the 7.30 pm deadline could open doors to some lucky player becoming the 18th Irish EuroMillions Jackpot winner.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “The countdown is on for tonight’s €65 Million (estimated) draw with excitement building for EuroMillions players all over the country.”

“If a player in Ireland was to win the staggering jackpot tonight, they would take the title of 18th Irish EuroMillions Jackpot winner ever seen in Ireland.”

“As we get closer to the draw, don’t forget that tickets can be purchased in-store, at www.lottery.ie or via the National Lottery app ahead of the cut-off time for sales at 7.30pm this evening,” they said.

The National Lottery emphasizes that nearly 30% of every €1 from their games directly supports Good Causes in education, arts, health, and the Irish Language.

A total of €6 Billion has enriched numerous sectors since its founding 36 years ago, with €259 Million dedicated to local causes in 2022 alone. The real win? A thriving community!
