Lorne Nakonechny remembered seeing ‘all these numbers come up’ on his mobile when he checked his tickets online.

The Edmonton resident won $14,900,823.50 in the June 15 Lotto 649 draw, the WCLC lottery announced today.

He double and triple-checked his free play ticket before he could really believe his eyes.

“I had just gotten off a business call and remembered I had a lottery ticket to check,” he said. “I scanned it using the WCLC Mobile app, and all of these numbers came up in the amount on the screen.”

“I was sure I was seeing things, so I checked the numbers on WCLC’s website,” he continued.

Nakonechny redeemed his free play ticket at Namao Superstop, located at 16435 97 Street in Edmonton.

His winning numbers were 10, 19, 24, 30, 35, and 49.

It turned out he was seeing all the right things. After scanning the ticket a few more times, Nakonechny realized he really was almost $15 million richer.

The winner said he hasn’t made any plans for his winnings.

The Edmonton winner shared the $29,801,647 jackpot with another ticket purchased somewhere in Alberta, outside of Edmonton and Calgary.

Nakonechny’s $14.9 million win is Alberta’s 18th prize of a million dollars or more in 2019.
